Earlier this summer, wrestling icon Ric Flair announced that he was battling skin cancer.
Flair, 76, has dealt with a litany of health issues in recent years. In addition to a prior bout of skin cancer, the WWE Hall of Famer nearly died of organ failure in 2017 and underwent a heart procedure in 2023.
Last month, Flair postponed and later canceled a fan event, revealing that it was because he was dealing with skin cancer.
“To All My Dear Friends And Fans- I Am So Sorry, That I Will Not Be Able To See You Tuesday. I Have Health Issues, That I Need To Attend To,” Flair tweeted. “As I Have Procrastinated Putting My Health First In The Past. Melanoma, I Have Found Out, Is Nothing To Play With. I Promise To See You ASAP. Please Continue To Love Ric Flair Drip, As @_RicFlairDrip Loves You.”
Today, the Nature Boy announced some welcome news. He’s cancer free, revealing the positive update on X/Twitter.
“Thank You Academic Alliance In Dermatology! I’m Now Cancer Free! WOOOOO!” Flair wrote, sharing a photo of himself with bandages on his forehead and left shoulder, the two areas that were worked on.
This is the second time Flair has had skin cancer in the last three years, which is always scary to see. Hopefully, he caught it early, and the fact he’s posting today that it has been removed is a good sign.
Flair has taken his health seriously lately, which makes sense after he unknowingly suffered a heart attack in his final match back in 2022.
“I went to get what’s called a calcium scan, which I’d never had before, because a couple of guys died in our business of heart issues so it kind of scared me,” Flair explained, via Cageside Seats.
“They give you the nuclear stress test, shoot you with the dye, put you on the treadmill, everything. It’s two days of three hours of tests. This is six months ago. The guy takes me in, and if you look at your heart like a round pie, there’s a piece of my heart right here this big, it’s black, it’s gone. The guy said, ‘You’ve had a heart attack in the last two years.’
“He said, ‘Have you passed out in the last two years?’ And during my last match, I passed out three times. And I thought it was because I was dehydrated. So I went in the locker room with Kid Rock and Taker, I just drank two bottles of Gatorade and went back out to Kid Rock’s place all night long. But I had a heart attack.”
