SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – A simple act of kindness can make a big impact on someone.
Over the weekend, the community participated in a drive-by to lift the spirits of local mother Christy Nijak, who is terminally ill with Stage 4 ovarian cancer.
The 44-year-old was diagnosed six weeks ago and fights every day while still working to be the best mother she can be to her four children, three of which are under the age of 10.
According to her nurses, she has an incredibly strong heart.
“Being strong is very important, I appreciate everyone who came out here and lit up my mom’s world,” said Ayla Nijak, Christy’s daughter. “She loves to feel the love right now, especially in this moment. I know everyone loves my mom very dearly and the message I’d like to get out there is please test for cancer, whether it runs in your family or not, whether your healthy or not.”
A GoFundMe account has been set up to assist Christy in her fight. You can donate by clicking here.
