David Roach has been fairly quiet since sharing with fans that he is battling an “aggressive” form of cancer, but there is an old saying about a picture being worth a thousand words, and he shared a special one on Sunday.
The 1980s rock star apparently went and got hitched to his fiancée, Jennifer. His band — Junkyard — shared a photo to its Instagram story showing Roach sliding a ring on her finger and wrote, “Congratulations to the happy couple — Mr. and Mrs. David Patrick Roach.” A second photo showed band members sitting with Roach, who was in a wheelchair.
The heartwarming scene came less than a month after David and Jennifer shared a post to the band’s Instagram page thanking everyone for their support and love during his cancer fight.
“After David’s ongoing fever and cough led us to the ER, we got results that have completely shattered our world,” the post, which was accompanied by a photo of Roach in a hospital bed, read. “It’s devastating and life-altering, and we’re trying to navigate through the emotions and uncertainty that come with it.
“David is showing such incredible strength and resilience, and even in the midst of this darkness, he’s still managing to keep his sense of humor,” the post continued. “It’s a reminder of how amazing he is. But we know this journey ahead will be extremely tough, David made it clear he is not giving up hope and we’re going to need all of your love and prayers.
“Thank you for standing by us. Your kindness and support mean everything to us. Please keep David in your thoughts as we take this one step at a time. With all our love, David and Jennifer.”
A GoFundMe has been set up as well and has raised more than $34,000 toward a $35,000 goal. It said that Roach was diagnosed with “aggressive squamous cell carcinoma affecting his head, neck and throat.”
Junkyard formed in 1987 and is known for its hit songs “Simple Man” and “Hollywood.”
